Dying Man’s Daily Journal – Happy Anniverary

Today is a special day. Vi’s parents John and Nellie Chevillard are celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary. Imagine in this day and age a 60th wedding anniversary. They were married in 1947 shortly after John’s return from serving  in active duty in world war 2. This afternoon family will be gathering to celebrate an occasion very few other couples achieve.

Congratulations to John and Nellie! I can’t imagine Nellie’s experiences and emotions while waiting for John to arrive. Did she ever think John won’t make it? Did she ever felt like giving up and loving someone else? John must have been really inspired that he was able to survive the war because of her love for Nellie. He knew someone special is waiting for him to come home.

Anyway, I hope you can let Nellie and John talk about their love story. And perhaps you can share the story to us through here. I know theirs is an inspiring love story, worthy of emulation.

Congratulations to John and Nellie!! Not only have they accomplished 60 yr. of marriage in a difficult world but from what you have told us of Vi, they also raised a wonderful daughter. I hope that this year could be their best ever!

    Hi Bill,

I hope that the big day was fun for all. We celebrated my parents 50th in February and I thought that was huge.

It is quite inspriational to see the fruits of a lifetime together isn’t it? I admire those who can manage to do it that long. I suppose as our age of marriage rises societally the number of these
    ‘big’ anniversaries will decrease.

If I make it 60 then my H and I will be well into our 80’s and 90’s.

Please extend my congratulations to your Mother and Father in Law on this grand anniversary.

    60 years!!!! How wonderful!
And some people actually say that marriage is an outdated institution that doesn’t work. Those people are wrong.
